Counteracting the pandemic of
Global Violence
Global Initiatives
The worst cases of sexual violence ever known in history have been carried out against the women of Congo. The brutality extends from domestic violence and forced marriage to sex trafficking to the use of rape used as a weapon of war. HEAR CONGO initiated “Proudly UNITE to End Violence Project”, a Global Advocacy Project to join all in the fight against violence. HEAR Congo forged a collaboration of several organizations in the private sector. They have included public entities and foundations in South Florida and abroad. Their goal is to raise awareness about this humanitarian crisis and to fund programs. Proudly UNITE to End Violence Project works in partnership with the United Nations UNiTE Campaign, organizing events within this UN Women initiative, launched by former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in 2008.
We also work at the grassroots level to educate women about global actions taken to end violence against women and girls such as UN Resolution 1325. Together, we follow very closely the implementation and progress of this resolution in Congo.
